Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of this online tutoring marketplace ("the Platform", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
Who we are
The Platform is an online marketplace that connects students (and parents acting for their children) with independent teachers for one-to-one online lessons and related learning services. We provide discovery, scheduling, a secure video classroom, messaging, and payment handling. Teachers are independent providers, not our employees or agents. We are not a party to the lesson itself and do not deliver the teaching.
Eligibility and accounts
- You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Parents and guardians may create and manage learner profiles for children in their care and are responsible for those learners' use of the Platform.
- We may refuse, suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms or create risk for other users.
Teacher verification
Every teacher profile is reviewed and approved before it becomes visible. Some teachers additionally complete identity or qualification verification, shown as badges. Verification helps build trust but does not make us responsible for a teacher's conduct, qualifications, or the outcome of any lesson.
Bookings, trials and lessons
- Prices are shown in your currency before you book.
- Where a teacher offers a free trial, no payment is required for that trial. Free trials are limited (generally one per teacher).
- Paid lessons are booked for a specific time in your timezone. Booking a lesson creates an agreement directly between you and the teacher.
Payments and escrow
When you pay for a lesson, the funds are held in escrow and only released to the teacher after the lesson takes place. Every transaction is recorded in a double-entry ledger. A Platform commission is included in the price shown and disclosed at the time of booking. Full details are in our Payment Terms.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations are subject to the cancellation window shown at the time of booking. If a teacher fails to attend a lesson, you are refunded in full. Eligible refunds are returned to your wallet or original payment method as described in our Refund Policy and Cancellation Policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share personal contact details or attempt to move lessons or payments off the Platform. Our messaging automatically filters contact information to protect both sides and to keep our guarantees enforceable.
- Harass, abuse, discriminate against or endanger other users.
- Post false reviews, impersonate others, or manipulate ratings.
- Use the Platform for anything unlawful or infringing.
Content and reviews
You retain ownership of content you submit but grant us a licence to host and display it to operate the Platform. Reviews must reflect genuine, completed lessons.
Disputes
If something goes wrong with a lesson or payment, you can raise a dispute and we will review it fairly. See our Disclaimer for the limits of our role and liability.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breaches of these Terms, fraud, or risk to users. You may close your account at any time; some records are retained where required by law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified, and the current version always lives on this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
